Let's get this party started

Well today I finally went ahead and bought myself an Audio Kontrol 1 audio interface. Originally I was going for a PreSonus Firebox because I wanted to keep my USB port free. After all the VCI-100 I am planning on getting would take up the only other USB port I have. However after talking to Rino at Jackpoint, I decided to go USB instead. He suggested an NI Audio 4DJ at first, but since I can see myself using this audio interface at Frisbee events, I also wanted mic support. Also I kinda like the software bundle on the Audio Kontrol 1 and the price is only slightly higher.

Next up I also got myself a pair of Sennheiser HD-25 II headphones. They seem very rugged, though still very light weight. I liked how they sit on my ears. While pricey most parts can easily be replaced. Finally I like the fact that if you get the straight cable, the connector has a 90 degree angle. That should reduce the risk of getting tangle up in the connector. Only draw back is that they do not really allow you to just hold one side to your ear like many other DJ headphones allow. So it goes.

Unfortunately they did not have the Traktor Pro upgrade in store and I figured getting the physical package with a printed handbook could come in handy. So I have to wait until Thursday for that. Playing with Traktor LE until then would be fine, but unfortunately Traktor LE does not seem to work with virtual midi interfaces. Since the VCI-100SE are not yet in stock again at DJTechTools.com, I am using the iTouchmidi virtual midi interface as a backup for now. Luckily since I updated Traktor from 1.0 to 1.1 it seems to have restarted the demo period. However Traktor quits after 30mins when running in demo mode.

I am slowing getting more and more things in Traktor. One thing I am still looking to figure out is to send the master to one side of the headphone and the monitor to the other. Let's see if I can get this working.
