First gig already lined-up

One of my Frisbee friends is apparently reading my blog and IMed me today if I do not want to DJ at the up coming Force Lake tournament. I am still in the process of cleaning up my tracks and will probably not have many tracks beat gridded and set up with relevant cue points. So I will probably go easy on all to fancy transitions, since I do not want to stress myself .. after all I also want to enjoy the party and not turn this into work. But it will be quite exciting none the less. My midi controller will not be delivered in time, but using iTM DJ should suffice for now and will hopefully let me DJ on the dance floor a bit. I am also anxious to see how people like the recent songs I have been buying on iTunes, like the Balkan Beat Box album.

Oops, am I the first one commenting here? ;-)

Wow, interesting hobby. Even though I don't have much to do with DJing I know something about music: I studied at the SAE Institute in Berlin (http://www.sae.edu) ages ago. ;-)

And I also have some equipment at home, but I'm more the one trying to do some music production rather than DJing.

Currently I'm looking for a way to automatically detect the BPM of an arbitrary song for an automatic radio program generator. ;-) Do you know any possibility (preferably on a linux system)?
