In the past weeks I did not by any stretch spend as much time on building my DJ skills as I wanted. However I did work through the sample chapter of the Traktor Pro Bible, which I am anxiously awaiting. I also finally ordered a VCI-100. Since the plain SE isn't available, I went with the arcade edition. But due to shipping costs I will have to wait a bit until the new overlay's for the 2.x TSI's are ready in about 4 weeks. I am also in contact with one of the sys admins of djtechtools.com hoping that I can help out a bit on adding a few features here and there. As soon as they send me the vbulletin code (*nudge nudge* BentoSan) I will be trying out a few potential plug ins. I also tried to breath some life into an IRC channel dedicated to digital DJing, so far we managed to get 3-6 people on average, but after my return from a trip to Rimini over the weekend its just me and an ideling co-worker. Though I will be pointing to this blog from my PHP blog, which should give plenty of exposure to this blog post.
Speaking of Rimini, I am really seeing the work of DJs with different eyes now. Or actually I am starting to get a feel for why a DJ sucks when he DJs. I attended two parties down there and the one DJ just drove me crazy with constant tempo and style changes, while the other one really had smooth transitions and slowly moved around from one style to another. But the other good thing is that my head isn't spinning too much to prevent me of going totally crazy on the dance floor.
Anyways, I still want to do some minor look and feel improvements to this blog, but I am quite happy with the default layout right now. My cousin Monika also helped me get my "logo" to a first decent version, but I still have a few ideas to tweak it some more. At any rate I hope this blog post will serve as a bit of a story book for my learning experience and of course also hopefully will help me network with other DJs.
